    Every ounce of SMO Gold is traceable to a named source mine. Each batch is kept segregated through the SMO Chain of Custody, with its provenance documented throughout the supply chain and key segregation and Chain of Custody controls independently verified.

  • RESPONSIBILITY

    SMO works only with approved Member Mines that meet defined eligibility criteria and demonstrate alignment with recognised responsible-mining frameworks, including the World Gold Council’s Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs), the IRMA Standard for Responsible Mining and ICMM Mining Principles, as applicable.

  • TRANSPARENCY

    SMO publishes mine-level environmental, social and governance information from its Member Mines’ current reporting, giving customers clear visibility of where their gold came from and the performance of the mine that produced it.

Bellevue: a world first for gold mining decarbonisation.

In Western Australia’s historic North-eastern Goldfields, the Bellevue Gold Project has made mining history. In 2025, it became the world’s first gold mine to achieve net zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions — a landmark achievement and an exciting demonstration of what operational decarbonisation in gold mining can achieve. Bellevue reached this milestone through substantial investment in renewable energy and emissions-reduction measures, with Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) surrendered to offset its remaining Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions.
